VERSES AND MUSIC
In particular way my pupils of 6th grade learned verses of national poets.
We set verses to music. It was great satisfaction because in this activity we were nurturing over-glorified poems and learning more about poetic terms: verse, stanza, contrast, title, rhyme, rhythm...
For homework pupils had to find poems which are set to music on Youtube. Watch and listen what they found.
Students were inspired by verses of Sergej Jesenjin (Russian poet) and Dobriša Cesarić (Croatian poet) and they composed the music to lyrics of their poems (The Birch and Fruit Tree after Rain).
At the and of the class we sang it together.
